For the first official Drink Gas review it seemed fitting to choose an album from an up-and-coming wordsmith from the west coast. Just 24 years young, Nipsey Hussle has a flow and tongue that matches west coast forefathers. Slauson Boy Vol. 1 is classic L.A. hip-hop, reminiscent of the days when a young Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg would be on the prowl. From his insatiable farewell of his old lifestyle in "On Tha Blocc", to "Grams & Goldchains" where Hussle gives the listener a social commentary on the gang culture of the Crenshaw district, Nipsey has your ear drums hooked. "Rimpaus Finest" has Nipsey displaying his slick word play right off the bat, "My sentences are reminicant of what rap''s missing/ my gold glistens due to the zones I sold in the district," leading to a first verse (and song) that leaves the rewind button broken. Impressive, young, on a mission. Don't miss out on Nipsey Hussle. 3 1/2 Gas Cans
